5 Self Care Habits to Start Today

1. Pray/Mediate/Journal

Our minds are constantly sending and receiving messages. When you don’t unpack your thoughts, you can become overwhelmed that leads you to overthink or not think at all. The great thing is that you can start praying, meditating, or journaling at any time. These methods help you to unleash your thoughts and stay in a positive mindset.

2. Exercise

Nobody truly enjoys working out but working out improves your mind, body, and soul in so many ways. Taking at least 30 minutes a day get active can improve the way you feel and think about yourself. We are only given one body, so why not take care of it?

3. Affirmations

I love affirmations! We are our own biggest critics. From downsizing our potential to talking down on ourselves. Affirmations will change the way you think about all areas of your life. When you repeat a positive statement repeatedly it sends a signal to your brain telling it that is true! For example, if you are always saying you are lazy your actions will naturally reflect because your brain already thinks you are, but if you say “I am completely free of laziness” your actions will match your thoughts.

4. Expressing Gratitude

You will not receive more if you are not grateful for what you have now. Expressing gratitude can be as easy as saying what you are grateful or jotting down those things every day. Once you start this you will be grateful for the things that even upset you, because you see them as lessons. Recently I purchased a plain journal that I use to write down 3 things I’m grateful for each day. Sometimes it meaningfully and sometimes it’s not. But once I write those things down I feel extremely grateful and at peace.

5. Handling Business

Checking off something on your to-do list is the best feeling ever. When you continue to put off your tasks or goals it will grow negatively on your mental health. Handling business can be as simple as putting away laundry or responding back to emails. Not handling business will either come back to bite you or have you miss out on an opportunity.

So starting right now pick one of these habits and start taking care of yourself!
